Welcome to Chippie Townie Tours. My name is Maurice, I was born and raised in Oxford, and I will be your guide on an exciting journey to explore some rarely told stories about the city of dreaming spires.
The medieval streets of Oxford are well known around the world. They have been the backdrop to countless films, documentaries and TV shows. The university itself has an impressive alumni list which includes 28 UK Prime Ministers, 20 Archbishops of Canterbury, 12 saints, 27 Nobel laureates and 50 Nobel Prize winners.
In the swirl of undergraduates, tourists, traditon and architectural splendour, it’s easy to overlook the rich local history of Oxford. That’s why I set up ‘Chippie Townie Tours’, to help tell the stories of those Oxonians who just happen to live in a city which is also home to the second oldest university in the world.
